BIDDING OPPOSITE A STRONG HAND [PART 1]

The auction will often cause your hand to become stronger or weaker than a mere count of the high cards suggests. This month, we look at a situation that many inexperienced players find difficult – bidding bad hands. How often do you hear a lament along the lines of ‘I couldn’t bid, I only had 1/2/3 points’?

Suppose that with the opponents only vulnerable you pick up one of my regular rubber bridge hands…
