Look to the East

The World Bridge Federation hosted a very successful NBO Seminar in Bangkok in May, attended by 25 Officers from 14 NBOs, comprised in Zones 4, 6, 7, & 8.

The excellent series of presentations included a terrific report from Mary Kelly Rogers about developments in Women’s bridge and an inspirational report by EBL President Eric Laurant entitled: Loneliness The Netherlands.

WBF Treasurer Marc de Pauw reported on WBF Governance & Finances. He was able to show that the WBF has a very healthy balance sheet, but he reported that participation in major championships has declined, contrasting (amongst others) the number of entries for the World Bridge Series events in Orlando 2018 and Wroclaw 2022. He also noted the sharp fall in NBO membership following the pandemic, which fell from 584,209 adults to 470,000 between 2019 and 2024.

There was a great video about ethics – it is in Norwegian, but with English subtitles. Everyone should watch it at: NBF BridgeEtikk ENG (youtube.com)
