CHAMPIONS ALL

The European Team Championships in Herning were a great success.

Michal Kwiecien & Wlodzimierz Starkowski retained the Senior Pairs title they won in Madeira, the fifth time a Polish pair has lifted the trophy. The runners up were Sweden’s Per-Inge Helmertz & Arne Jordestedt, while Israel’s Avi Kalish & Nir Grinberg finished third.

In the Women’s pairs, Poland’s Cathy and Sophia Baldysz looked set to win by a historic margin, as at one point they were more than five tops ahead of their nearest challengers, Finland’s Pia Erkkila and Raija Tuomi and Serbia’s Jovana Zoranovic and Selena Pepic.

The team championships determine who will represent Europe in the 2025 World Team Championships.

Terje Aa, Christian Bakke, Boye Brogeland, Tor Eivind Grude, Geir Helgemo, Allan Livgard, Tolle Stabell (captain), Sten Bjertnes (coach).

OPEN

Norway took the Open Championship followed by Switzerland, Italy, England, Israel, Belgium, Sweden and France.

WOMEN

In a thrilling finish, Norway also took the Women’s title despite losing in the last round to the runners up, France. Türkiye finished third, the remaining qualifiers being Italy, Poland, England, Netherlands and Denmark.

Willem Gosschalk, Leonhard Hofland, Jan Kolen, Bas Van Der Hoek, Willem Van Eijck, Jan Verhees, Peter Van Der Voorden (captain).

SENIORS

The Netherlands stormed to victory in the Senior Teams, followed by Poland and France. 
Europe’s contingent at the World Championships was completed by Italy, Sweden, Austria, England and Denmark.

Adi Asulin, Ilan Bareket, Ronnie Benin-Barr, Ron Pachtman, Nathalie Saada, Yaniv Zack.

MIXED

Israel dominated the mixed Teams competition, finishing ahead of France and Italy. Romania, Denmark. England, Sweden and Hungary completed the list of qualifiers.

France, Italy and England qualified in all four events!
