HERNING AT THE DOUBLE

The World Bridge Federation has announced that they have reached an agreement to hold the 2025 World National Teams Championship (including the Bermuda Bowl, Venice Cup, D’Orsi Senior Trophy and Wuhan Cup) in Herning, Denmark between August 18 and August 30 2025. The city of Herning, the Herning Bridge Club and the Danish Bridge Federation are generously offering to host their second major international bridge championship in 2 years.

Herning, with its small-town feel, was a popular venue for the European National Teams Championships earlier this year, with an excellent venue, good restaurants, and easy access by road, rail and air (Billund International Airport is a 35-minute drive).

Play will commence on August 19 with a new “6+6” schedule. The qualifying round robins will be played over 6 days (4 matches per day except the 6th day). In parallel with the subsequent 6-day knockout rounds (2-day matches starting with Quarterfinals from the 25th) there will be a transnational team event with 6 guaranteed days of play.

The 2-day schedule reduction is designed to ease the cost of participating in the WBF’s representative events; a wish expressed by many NBOs.
