Transnational in Prague

Launching a new bridge event might be considered just as daunting an enterprise. However, last year the generosity of Pierre Zimmermann allowed the European Bridge League to stage the Winter Transnational Championships in the famous French alpine resort, Alpe d’Huez. Forty-eight teams ascended the climb that is an annual highlight of the Tour de France in search of the title.
Hoping to build on that beginning, the EBL has relocated to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, for the 2025 edition, offering a substantial discount on entry fees to players from the host country and their neighbors, Austria, Germany, Poland & Slovakia.

The advantages of staging an event in a central European location in a magnificent city in the middle of February have been demonstrated in no uncertain fashion, as 89 teams comprising 438 players from
32 countries have entered the lists in search of a European title.

After the first 2 days of play, 32 teams qualified for the knock-out phase. Here is the draw:
