The Appliance of Science

Although the WBF’s Bridge & Science Committee was disbanded more than two years ago, valuable research continues. It has been proven that playing bridge reduces depression levels, prevents dementia, and improves the well-being of people living in Nursing Homes. Observers of Alzheimer’s patients receiving bridge therapy see a much slower progression of the disease. The Latvian Bridge Federation recently received a grant from the European Union to study the positive effects of teaching bridge to lonely people staying in Nursing Homes and they are set to organise the Sixth International Scientific Conference about bridge in Riga at the end of 2025.
