Misbid this Hand with Me – February 2026

Lack of Ambition

In a round robin qualifier, I pick up these cards:

When East passes, I open 1♠ and when West overcalls 2♣ my partner bids 3♣, which promises a good hand, usually with some Spade support. When I jump to 4♠, partner asks for keycards and then about the ♠Q. When I answer accordingly, partner bids 6, which I take to be some sort of grand slam try. I suspect partner has a very good diamond suit and the ♠Q and was intending to bid 7NT if I had any additional Kings. I decided to push the boat out and bid 7♠, leaving us with this drawn out sequence:
