French Cup

This Sunday, I’m on the sidelines for the last round of the zonal final of the French Cup. I take the opportunity to kibitz Carla and her new Girls partner, Nina. They would have qualified for the national final of the French Cup for the first time if they had done better on the second-to-last board.

Carla played 4 Spades and went down. She blames herself because even though she thinks that she played normally, she lost a trick to the doubleton Queen of Spades in West’s hand when she finessed against East.
