LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Despite the lack of official confirmation, there is much speculation about the location of the next round of major European and World Championships. Barbados is hotly tipped to host the 2027 World Team Championships, although the proposed dates might coincide with the rainy season.

The World Youth Bridge Teams Championships are due to take place in 2027 and they are likely to be staged in Herning, Denmark, which in recent years has become one of the go to venues for major events. There are concerns about a possible clash with the Swedish Bridge Festival, which is a big supporter of junior bridge, for more than ten years offering the first ten junior teams to register for the Festival free entry and free accommodation. The countries that have taken advantage of that include the USA, India, China, Singapore, Türkiye, South Korea, Estonia, England and Ireland.

The European Winter Transnational Championships for Open and Mixed Teams returns to Prague in February 2027, but there is no news as yet about the location of the European Transnational Championships which are due to take place next June, or the 2028 European Team Championships.

An update on these events can be expected at the World Championships in Katowice.
