The facts
Twelve tricks later, our two budding experts are still wondering how to bid this slam. Was it poor judgement or technical shortcomings? Who is to blame for this very poor result?

Arguments
North: “I don’t see any alternative to my 4♥ bid. I showed 18-19HCP and four Hearts. You have 10HCP in ideal positions and a singleton that is bound to be useful – our side is clearly in the range for slam.”

South: “I’m not quite sure how I should continue. I don’t have enough information to ask for keycards, and if I start bidding controls at such a high level, it becomes difficult, if not impossible, to stay out of the slam.”
