NOT A BRIDGE MOZART, BUT ALMOST…
In matchpoint pairs, when the deals are very competitive, the contracts played and the scores entered (in both columns) can vary greatly. Conversely, there are other deals in which the auction is uncontested, and all pairs reach the same contract played by the same hand. When a contract is played at (almost) all tables and the lead is the same, we rarely see the outcome of the play differ by more than one trick. However, some deals do offer a talented declarer the chance to record a much bigger difference (synonymous with a top).
