The defense against two-suited overcalls

North-South have reached a very poor contract. As so often, each of the two players considers that his partner is responsible for the accident. And you, what do you think?

This month we will be looking at:
The defense against two-suited overcalls.

(*) Two-suiter in the majors.

The facts
It is not always easy to bid a minor-suit game rather than 3 No-Trump with two balanced hands, when both players have no stopper in a five-card suit bid or suggested by the opponents.

Arguments
North: “I understood that you stopped the Hearts, I stop the Spades, so I say 2NT.”
South: “You are right, except that we changed our system recently. I can no longer bid 3♣, which would be non-forcing. I therefore choose to cuebid 2, without specifying my stoppers. I think that you must bid 2♠: I stop Spades.”
