On the basis of what criteria is a player entitled to bid a grand slam in trumps?
Three conditions are required: sufficient “material”, high trumps and first round controls in all side suits. After confirming that the second and third criteria are met by the way of RKCB, a player can jump to 7 of his own accord if he counts thirteen tricks. Otherwise, he bids 5NT in order to leave the decision to his partner.
