A WHOLE HOST OF LITTLE PROBLEMS

This Month…

THIS MONTH YOU’LL BE SOLVING A WHOLE HOST OF LITTLE PROBLEMS. MAKE YOURSELF COMFORTABLE IN THE SOUTH SEAT. YOU ARE THE DEALER (NONE VULNERABLE) WITH THE FOLLOWING HAND:

♠ A93
A8
K1094
♣ K1097

What is your opening bid?
You have a balanced 14-count and no five- card major. In the case of equal lengths in the minors, the rules of better minor indicate opening 1 (10 points) with four cards in each suit, while you would choose to open 1♣ (4 points) with three cards in each suit. If you feel fit and opposite an understanding partner, a possible action with a hand such as yours that is rich in quick tricks and intermediate cards is to open 1NT (7 points). Nevertheless, you open 1 and your partner bids 2♣.

What is your rebid?
