The facts
There are potentially eleven tricks, with Clubs or Spades as trumps: our two young competitors did neither make the most of their cards nor learn their lesson well. Who is responsible for this accident?
Arguments
North: “We have just learned about this minor-major Double and the almost automatic response of 2♣, meaning ‘Pass or correct’. I am not really sure what that means! I’m aware I had a great hand, maybe I should have said 2♠ over 2♣.”
South: “I did think about responding 2♥ to let you choose between the two majors, but I didn’t know whether that would show both majors or a one-suiter in Hearts. I’ve also heard that you can use 2♦ as a relay with both majors, another famous “Pass or Correct” that I didn’t understand any more than you!”
